Aloha! Well, I just had my last day of classes yesterday. Ever. Very weird feeling. I still have finals next week, so I'm not off the hook yet. Speaking of which, updates will continue to suck, but I have some awesome things to show off soon.
I also co-curated an art show last weekend, which had an awesome turnout. I got to exhibit some real talent, and it felt great to work in such a position. I lost lots of sleep over it, but I'm used to that by now.
As for the DVD comic above, I'm piecing together my portfolio and wanted to do something different than the rest of the class. The original assignment was to create a video montage and DVD case, but since I love to do 2D media, the professor was cool with me creating a book instead. In case of no update Friday, I will show you guys the work I specially did for that. I still had to include a DVD of my work with the book, so I whipped this up for that. I freaking love those pamphlets that detail safety on planes. Actually, when I flew up to Maine with Andi from Easy Skankin last summer, we used a sharpie marker to add word balloons to the pamphlets for the next passengers to enjoy.
As for the cover for Book 3, I hope you guys got the reference. If you're a surfer and you didn't catch that, be ashamed of yourself. I've always considered Endless Summer to be inspiration for my story, at least in some regard. That's why I really wanted to make the cover a parody of Endless Summer's. And no, I'm not planning on making Book 4 a tribute to One Piece. I'll still be editing the cover around a bit, but this is pretty much 95% done. I hope you guys like it!
