I saw March of the Penguins last night, and it really wasn't all that bad. Yes, it was cute enough to make you want to throw up, but it was entertaining. The funny thing about it though, is that most of the movie is spent watching the penguins stand still at the breeding grounds, even though the movie is called "March" of the Penguins.

Also, last week I delt with some of the most neglectful parents ever while working at Gamestop. Tonight, a little kid came up to the counter, and cutely asked "Can I buy a copy of Conker Live and Reloaded?" The kid was only 9 years old. I told him that he had to have a parent with him to buy an "M" rated game. He went to the Starbucks next door and brought back his mom, who was a little annoyed that she had to be present. She seemed clueless as to what game she was buying for her son, so I read off why the game got such a high rating. She stopped me halfway, and said that her son would be exposed to extreme violence and gore, sexual themes and strong language at his best friend's house anyways, so she gave up trying to teach him good morals. Wow.

This other parent got a copy of Playboy: The Mansion for her 8 year old son. I can understand if a parent doesn't understand game ratings (Everybody, Teen, and Mature) as well as movie ratings, but at least every parent has heard of Playboy, and should know that a video game with that title should not be appropriate for their child who HASN'T EVEN HIT PUBERTY.

Now I'm not against games with adult themes, but they're made for a certain audience, and these parents are the ones who will ruin these games for their intended audience. The neglectful parents are the type who ignore the games that they purchase for their kids, and then try to blame souly the video game companies for making the game in the first place when they find out that their kids are corrupted. I feel that if parents took more responsability with their children, then we wouldn't be having any problems with video game violence in society today.
